We're a Do-it-All Company.
Web Design and Development
We build websites from scratch with no templates. We always use a content management system (CMS) so you can easily update your content.
Simple Web Edits
If you have a website already built and need help editing, we can help you re-tailor your site to your changing needs.
Want to make your website a lot easier to update? A CMS (content management system) allows you to update your website without knowing much about html. We can update your static website to a CMS-based site with little to no design changes.
Maintenance of websites can be tough. If you don’t have the man power, let us help you keep you on the cutting edge.
MVC Based Web Application
Have an idea for a web application? Need a prototype built quickly? MVC (Model View Controller) is a structure that separates data storage, logic and visual design. Using Codeigniter, which uses the MVC structure, a new dynamic prototype can be built quickly.
Search Engine Optimization
In today's world, SEO is one of the most important steps in running a successful website. You can have a great website, but if no one sees it then what's the point? We provide SEO services to better the flow of traffic from search engines and other means so your website gets the exposure it deserves.
Logos and Branding
It's important to create an identity for your business. Your brand identity determines your audience and defines your business as a whole. We produce logos and branding solutions that not only look good, but work.
We design business cards, envelopes, brochures, flyers, letterheads and any other print material your business may need.
Need photos of your products, staff, and/or facilities? We offer quality photography services, both on and off site.
Whether for fun or for official business, we design infographics so you can communicate information more effectively.
Hyper Text Markup Language is the basis of all things web.
The basic tool for creating any and all websites, HTML has been in use since the start. The newest version 5 (HTML5) has many advanced features such as audio, video, and styling.
Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) is HTML's fashionable sibling. CSS makes HTML look good by assigning properties to the HTML tags.
If HTML were the car, CSS would be the paint. It makes all things HTML look pretty. The newest version CSS3 supports new styling elements (rounded corners, gradients, etc) as well as animation.
jQuery is the shiny bit. It lets us design sites and elements so that you can use them and have fun.
Hypertext Preprocessor (PHP) is the meat of many modern websites. PHP is what is called a scripting language. PHP processes all the information from the databases/files and distributes content to the user. There are many similar languages such as Ruby, Python, and Perl.
PHP is the engine that makes it all move.
Content Management System (CMS) are systems built often using scripting languages such as PHP to allow contents of websites to be stored within a database. CMS allow people without knowledge of HTML/CSS to change content on their websites with ease.
CMS is the most common way to organize content. CMS is the full running gear package. We make the HTML/CSS fit on top of the CMS to fit your needs. Here at Y-Designs, we can use Joomla, CMSmadesimple, or Wordpress. Choice is really up to the project.
Model View Controller (MVC) is organized code writing. When making an app, it is important to keep things in line. MVC is a structure that separates data storage, logic and visual design. Y-Designs offers MVC based app development. This option is ideal for prototyping new web applications.
MVCs are used for developing custom software when a CMS or other pieces of software doesn't fit the needs of your project. For PHP, we use Codeigniter. For Python, we use django.
Adobe Creative Suite
Adobe Creative Suite is the standard for most design work. We use Illustrator for vector-based and web graphics, Photoshop and Camera RAW for photography-based projects, and InDesign for print projects.
Pen, Pencil, and Paper
We like to create hand-drawn graphics as much as we can. They produce a certain aesthetic that computer-based graphics cannot obtain.
The scanner acts as our middle man between hand-drawn and computer-based graphics. We often start with a hand-drawn graphic that is scanned and altered on the computer.
