Amidst the Everyday

Part of the City Arts Festival 2012 and an ongoing project, Amidst the Everyday is a series of visual interventions designed to unveil unseen aspects of the urban landscape. This project uses QR codes that are scattered throughout Seattle. When scanned, these QR codes forward users to photographs taken by artists, Aaron Asis and Dan Hawkins, revealing forgotten buildings, alternative streetscapes and unseen infrastructure that are unique to the spot. The project encourages people to explore and experience the city in a new way.

The purpose of this project is to showcase abandoned buildings and beautiful photographs that accompany them. Therefore, the interface is kept minimal. No crazy colors or typography. Just a responsive website that functions well and allows users to interact with the city and the artists.
